Day 50–9/21/2024
I turned 61 on this day! It was my birthday. We went on a road trip in Medicine Bow to the Snowy Range. We rode with the Buskirks. We took the scenic drive to Centennial. We stopped and took pictures of a beautiful overlook.
Along the scenic drive, we stopped at the Brush Creek Visitor Center and a couple of beautiful lakes, Lake Marie and Mirror Lake. Lake Marie had a stone cottage that was quite small and unique.
There were waterfalls there as well. Vince walked down to a bridge that was down a ravine. There was a path to the bridge, but he couldn’t cross the bridge because there was a problem with it. It was closed. While he was doing this, Laurie had her feet in the water. It’s her favorite thing to do.
The other lake was Mirror Lake. It was a pretty lake, but the wind was blowing. So it wasn’t living up to its name. There was a wedding getting ready to happen at that lake. We took a few pictures of the decorations. We walked around the lake and took some more pictures. As we were leaving, a big school bus (Don't you just love a big yellow school bus? 🙄) pulled in carrying the wedding party.
The others had quickly tired of our antics and decided to go back to the campers before we even got to Mirror Lake. After Mirror Lake, we decided to continue on to Centennial, a small town at the end of this scenic drive, to get ice cream.
We enjoyed our homemade ice cream immensely. On our way home, we drove by Mirror Lake, but the wedding had already happened.
When we got home, we went out to eat Mexican food in Saratoga. We had to wait for a while for a table, but it was okay because we were there for an early dinner. Plus, I was still full from ice cream. Once we got our food, we enjoyed our dinner and the fellowship around the table. I made memories with my friends that night.
After we got back from that good dinner, Linda and Laurie had made me brownies and there was ice cream. We all enjoyed my happy birthday cake. It was a good day.
